Preliminary analytical model for a cantilever retaining wall. Rankine mode assumes a vertical smooth wall, level cohesionless backfill and sufficient movement to mobilize active or passive pressure. The tool does not perform an EN 1997 design, apply partial factors or a National Annex, and it does not model cohesion, inclined backfill, wall friction, seismic or compaction pressure, seepage, settlement, layered soil or global stability. Passive resistance, uplift, limits and structural capacities are user decisions.
Technical basis: FHWA NHI 06-088, Soils and Foundations, section 2.9.1: Rankine active/passive earth pressure and separate hydrostatic water pressure.
